Snap Shots III

The third post of my series "Snap Shots" is coming after a long gap, not because I am not seeing things, but had been too lazy to write down any.

Bangalore is a lot chilling in the night compared to any other place I have been in south India. I feel that one would not have a cool drink at 10:30 in the night unless he/she is in a party, in a restaurant having spicy food or finishing off the drinks. Whatever the reasons, I would have never expected a little girl living in a slum, covering herself in a torn blanket asking for a chilled Pepsi! The shopkeeper was out of stock of Pepsi and offered her a Coca Cola. The little girl expressed her dislike for Coke and asked for a Sprite, finished it in a minute and rushed off to her slum just opposite to the shop.

Here I am not being judgmental about the girls liking for soft drinks and/or her spending capacity. What I was impressed was the impact advertisements had created on the people; the extent of penetration is tremendous. A few years back, this would have been a very unlikely scene. But I saw it front of my eyes and that made me write this.

Cheers:-)
